Explanation

Not every sentence ends with a period. If a sentence asks something, it ends with a question mark (?). Question sentences often start with words like who, what, where, when, why, or how. If a sentence shows strong feeling, like excitement or surprise, it ends with an exclamation mark (!). For example: 'Where is my book?' uses a question mark, and 'That is amazing!' uses an exclamation mark.
