A factor of a number divides into it evenly. The factors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 12 because each of those numbers divides into 12 with nothing left over. One quick way to find factors is to start at 1 and work upward, checking each number. Remember that 1 is a factor of every number, and the number itself is always a factor too.
