How Seeds Grow

Grade 1 · Science · Plants · Nebraska, USA

Lesson Summary

Watch the journey of a seed as it becomes a plant.

Explanation

A seed holds a tiny plant inside it. When the seed gets water, warmth, and is placed in soil, it starts to sprout. First a small root pushes down into the soil. Then a little stem pokes up through the dirt toward the sunlight. This process is called germination. Over time, the stem grows taller, leaves appear, and the plant keeps getting bigger until it is fully grown.
